This article is of real importance to any online store owner, and our thanks goes to David Greiner (one of the brains behind campaigns at campaign monitor) for bringing to our attention ‘The RISE of Mobile email Marketing’ … which is not just about EMAIL!
His research has brought to light the importance of ensuring each email you send to your audience, be that as part of a newsletter, a reply to an enquiry or just a general “hello” must be designed to work on mobile email clients. He analysed data of 3 billion emails, sourced from the Sydney-based Email Service, delivered to their clients in 2011.
This graphical report should be enough to raise your eyebrows and make you realise why this is so important.
» Increase in Mobile device use to view emails
» % Emails opened on different mobile platforms
» What does this mean for eCommerce store owners?
We can see that more and more people are viewing their emails using their mobile devices (iPhones currently being the #1 factor as they launched before Androids, but use of the latter is expanding rapidly).
Now think about the content of the emails that you send from your business. Are they just text? How about nice images? Do you include “call-to-action” links to encourage the user to visit your website? Of course you do – but when your reader clicks a link in your email whilst using their mobile device it will automatically load the web browser (just like on your PC) to take the user to your website…..and how does it look? Unless you’ve already installed the JSWeb mCommerce module it is unlikely to be easy to use – and the best way to check is to simply view your own website using a smartphone.
Making your website mCommerce ready NOW is vital to increasing sales! It is our top recommended “Essential Module” to be installed, and as we build new sites for customers this is being included as standard. But you don’t need a “new” website – we can add it to almost any current ZenCart site.
So if want your site visitors to not only view your site on their mobile device but also purchase from it, then you need the JSWeb Zen Cart mCommerce module
And if you think that people wouldn’t purchase using their mobile device, read on…
